Why is it everyone craves for what others think about them and not accept themselves for who they really are.I admit at times I am a victim of this crime but it just doesn't make sense to me why everyone else cares about what they think of themselves because really in the end Its not about being who everyone else wants you to be it's about being yourself & finding someone who loves every bit of it because those who mind don't matter. All the kids try to look like their music or acting idols cutting their hair like theirs trying to dress like them all for a effort to fit into society well god put us all on the earth to looks act speak differently for a reason so that we can all be our own person and honestly really who cares what others think about you where your skinny overweight white, black have red, blond, brunette or black hair, how tall or how short none of that matters
Try to love yourself as you for a change
girls go to school one day without makeup on or without doing your hair guys well find something to do I don't really think guys try to hide their true appearance as much as girls do my point is don't be so critical of what others think of you because the reality is your just setting yourself up for a trap in the end because really if everyone is trying to be someone they arn't in the end really who are we ?
"""Why is it everyone craves for what others think about them and not accept themselves for who they really are.I admit at times I am a victim of this crime but it just doesn't make sense to me why everyone else cares about what they think of themselves..."
ReplyDeleteI find that statement very entertaining. It's fine for you, but not for others? Oh, of course you do it sometimes, but it doesn't make sense when OTHER people do it?
Many of it has to do with sociology. With all of the influences that surround us -- corporate media, television, peers, family, religion, music, news, school, etc. -- it is inevitable that the majority of people will attempt to forge an identity by incorporating many parts of an array of influences. Basic sociology states that people base their identity off others' who have already solidified their identity as well as base their identity off things that surround them so it is inevitable that most people will attempt to forge their identity from what is currently a hot commodity (I'm sure emo has popped in your head already).
It also has to do with socioeconomic status. A black person is more likely to base his identity off of tough, rigid, rebellious, "I don't give a fuck,
" kind of things where as more priveleged middle-class white kids are most likely to conform to emo, bro's or preps.
You also must consider one's disposition toward society. One who is argumentative with family, peers, authoritative people and generally has a "fuck off" kind of demeanor will usually be interested in metal, punk rock, anarchy (This is a whole other issue considering most who call themselves anarchists don't know the first fucking thing about anarchism) or scenecore.
There's so many things to consider. It's simpler than them just wanting to conform and be popular.
I like this post. it's thought provoking!
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, what people think about you influences your choices and oppurtunites. for instance, when you go in for a job interview or to apply to college, you want the employer to see you as a smart, sleek, appealing person. That raises your chances of getting the job. If you walk in wearing a burlap sack and bare feet, their impression of you changes and you won't get the job.
basically, what people think of you matters, and so does looks. but they shouldn't dictate your life and change you from the inside out. You should always focus on who you want to be and do what you know is right, but it doesn't hurt to look good in the process. ;)
There is a difference between maintaining your individuality and simply rebelling from the norm. Girls wear make-up to make themselves look prettier, and if they want to look pretty, then make-up is a great way to do it. For a while I thought, "it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks" I rebelled a lot, and tried to be different. Dumbest thing I have ever done.
ReplyDeleteHere is the basic idea.
We live in a system, everyone is connected with each other, so to live as if we are not part of a larger entity is foolish, because fighting our larger entity is like fighting ourselves. There is nothing wrong with being an individual, but there are certain aspects of society which people expect you to adhere to, not because they are trying to make you conform, but simply because they represent ideas which have stood the test of time. I learned that if I want to get places in life, I need to learn how to play the game. People admire those who look good, who are funny, who are intelligent, those who are good at the things people think of as important. Fighting this system is stupid, and will only cause you much stress and difficulty.
However, there is a way to maintain your individuality while still appearing normal, and being the way society wants you to be. I can do whatever I want, no matter how different it is, as long as my reasons for doing it are normal. Basically, your "whats" are different but your "whys" are what society wants. Works pretty well for me and will probably work for you too.
Read my blog, I need thinkers like you to help me think.
